Fantasy Fest body painters are contributing their art work and using it to raise money for the Florida Keys communities who were affected by loss of tourism during the 2020 COVID Lockdown by raising money for charity through the sales of a new photography magazine called “Captain Ron Wolek’s Amazing Fantasy Paint Magazine”. After sharing the color comic book inspired cover art to the official Fantasy Fest organizers; Fantasy Fest fell in love with the idea and paired the body painters with the super heroes at the AH Monroe charity.
The idea came from a body painter who went to Key West the first week of October 2020 and while feeling hopeless by the prospect of the Fantasy Fest being postponed, walked by some graffiti on the sidewalk with the powerful message. Surrounded by bright colorful paint were the words “In Our Darkest Moments, We Must Find The Light.”. Instantly the idea came to Ron Wolek about what to do without a Fantasy Fest...use his body paintings to help raise money to help the community that has given the art of body painting so much. Immediately Wolek set out to put together a crew and spent all October 2020 painting bodies in a photo studio instead of bars along Duval Street.
The magazine is titled “Captain Ron Wolek’s Amazing Fantasy Paint Magazine”. The magazine aims to bring recognition to Key West for its contributions in elevating body painting up to a living art form and raise money for the communities who have supported the artists through many years of Fantasy Fest. Anyone can get a free copy with a $10 donation to AH Monroe at https://amazingfantasymagazine.com.
AH provides medical case management, nutritional options, counseling, affordable housing and other supportive services; in addition to health education, prevention and linkage to care.
AH spent 2020 bringing help to those who needed it the most; the hospitality workers and people most directly affected by the loss of Fantasy Fest. Each year Fantasy Fest brings over 100,000 tourists to Key West bringing in millions to the Florida Keys economy. Now AH needs support to be able to restock and refuel their super hero machine that many in Monroe County depend on during tough times.

The magazines will be a series of beautiful full color photos strung together with Key West related stories on professional layouts by Florida based graphic artists. The first issue is available now at https://amazingfantasymagazine.com and is titled “In a Blaze of Paint” and features a flying pink mermaid. Issue number one will be followed by “It Came From Caroline Street” featuring giant green alien women and is due in August. There are four issues planned to culminate with a special edition to be released just before Fantasy Fest 2021 begins; ending the fundraiser.
Key West has been a welcoming place that has provided body painters hospitality and work for the many years of Fantasy Fest. We have to wonder, without Key West’s open minded acceptance; would a once risque sixties art movement ever become a respected art form? Now semi nude and full nude body painting is featured in advertisements, on television, and showcased publicly around the country. Key West was one of the pioneer centers to first appreciate beautifully drawn body paint that allowed the painters to evolve into respected artists and why the best artists around the world travel to be at Key West for Fantasy Fest. This is why the artists feel so passionate about the project.

With each copy, you receive a chance to be selected as the monthly winner and receive over $800 in body painting for Fantasy Fest 2021
All fans and visitors of the Florida Keys and Fantasy Fest are encouraged to participate in the fundraiser to give back to a city which unselfishly has hosted their memories and fantasies since 1979 when Fantasy Fest began. Fantasy Fest has grown to a 10 day event that features a different theme each year with a parade ending on the last Saturday of October. This year’s theme was announced as “All A Daze For A Holiday”. AH needs donations to restock and refill its resources after 2020 so AH will be prepared and ready for the next time Monroe County needs their help. Captain Ron Wolek’s Amazing Fantasy Fest Magazine hopes to send donations to AH by reaching the over 100,000 annual Fantasy Fest visitors and summer tourists, by collecting their donations for a free magazine. All fans of Key West are encouraged to share on social media about the fundraiser and help the body painters complete their mission to help AH to exceed their fundraising goals.
